Caz from the Useful Box set up a second secret sewist exchange. My giftee requested a sewing machine cover. The suggested pattern for the machine cover was the one from Closet Case patterns. Downloading it was problematic so I decided to draft my own pattern. It was possible to ask questions anonymously through the exchange platform, so I asked for her machine dimensions. I got them very quickly and then checked for her preferred colour. Any shade of green.
I have no green fabric in my stash. I went to Rathdowne Remnants and spent an enjoyable thirty minutes looking for the perfect green fabric. I found this dark green curtain fabric and some pretty ribbon.
I put the stripes on what was to be the back of the machine cover. In my house the machine is seen from all sides.
The three stripes were nice but not enough. I made a pocket for one side panel. This came from my stash of fat quarters that I bought when thinking about making small purses.
Next came a “K” for the front of the machine cover. My giftee’s name starts with a K.
This was an easy sew and fun to design. I hope it fits!

My gift? I asked for an apron and got this (modelled by my husband) :
It is much appreciated and already getting a lot of use.
So awesome! I love the details you put on the sewing machine cover!
